Somewhere in between fighting therapy and letting everything go Somewhere in between the old thoughts, the new Don't think I even know That I'm somewhere in between him and her and you and me What's the point in letting you know I'm somewhere in between Yeah, I'm somewhere in between Forgetting everything Tossing it under the rug Easier said Instead I hold on to the way it shouldn't be I'm stuck in the in between I'm stuck in the in between Your glass is on my table The one I offered you last night Politely agreeing on water Oh, me and my good hosting As it sits still mostly full or hardly empty Like all of the things I tried to say but didn't It seems like I'm taking the easy way out Yeah, I'm somewhere in between Forgetting everything Or tossing it under the rug Easier said Instead I hold on to the way it shouldn't be I'm stuck in the in between When you know you know you know you know you know you know When you know you know you know you know you know you know When you know you know you know you know you know you know When you know you know you know you know you know you know Forgetting everything Tossing it under the rug Easier said, instead I hold on Forgetting everything Tossing it under the rug Easier said Instead I hold on to the way it shouldn't be I'm stuck in the in between I'm stuck in the in between

Thinking about last night when we met At the concert I wonder if you're thinking about this encounter Why am I like this I want to erase my actions of what just happened Why am I like this I replay every moment over like a movie Wish I could see from where, you're, you're standing Wish I could see from where, you're, you're standing Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why am I like this You think that that was weird Wait till I get home Replay it thirty more times in my head Until I go to bed That was just my anxiety I promise it's not me Wish I could see from where, you're, you're standing Wish I could see from where, you're, you're standing Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why Am I like this Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why can't I let it go Starts in my head and goes way down to my toes Why am I like this

City of Lies 03:13
Dark side of the winter, empty city what’s your agenda Lonely little airport eyes staring back when I said goodbye Just know I had my reasons Life has a funny way of saying things you couldn’t say Right where I was, wasn’t where I was supposed to be I won't write your story so whatever you decide to do That’s fine by me just long as you tell the truth in this City of lies and dirty divides if it’s the last thing you do You just try try try try Timing’s everything, but what if I am always late If I’d had got myself together, well maybe I’d have stayed Spend a little time, wander with me Explore the feeling of being free Life has a funny way of saying things you couldn’t say I won't write your story so whatever you decide to do That’s fine by me just long as you tell the truth in this City of lies and dirty divides if it’s the last thing you do You just try try try try I’ve been here before different answers, closing doors Stationary reasons, stubborn actions, fading feelings City of lies and dirty divides if it’s the last thing you do Just try try try try try Try try try try try try

Something about you makes me feel small The little things you do don’t feel so little at all Why do you want me to change the way I am This hold you’ve got on me, will it last eternally Something about you really makes me tick I’m hanging on your every mood, I'm matching my whole vibe to you I’m craving all the things, the way you move, your energy Little things I hate to need I feel everything I feel it all I feel everything I feel it all Something about you and the space you take Bathing in tenacity I wish I had your certainty I won’t be held hostage by every jab you make Imposter syndrome so I’m told, lets save some space for other souls I feel everything I feel it all I feel everything I feel it all I feel everything I feel it all I feel everything I feel it all Something about you makes me feel small The little things you do don’t feel so little at all I feel it, I feel, I feel it all I feel everything I feel it, I feel, I feel it all I feel everything I feel it, I feel, I feel it all I feel everything I feel it, I feel, I feel it all I feel everything I feel it, I feel, I feel it all I feel everything I feel it, I feel, I feel it all

Begging You 04:22
Crunchy steps of snow on my front porch Cacti on the sill Waiting for summer, wondering where is the sun Moody swings are depicting Into my daily life I am sinking Was it what you really meant, when you said that you’ve been thinking Oh what a burden to your routine She needs more than you could be Screaming at the sidewalks Erasing you from all her dreams I’m not begging you to stay It’s been years since you’ve felt this way I’m not begging you change It’s been years since you’ve dealt with the pain Nobody’s winning with these head games When everything was right as rain There you were, like a stream filling up the seams It’s not your weapon of choice that is the problem It’s the way you bite your tongue Carefully walking on fresh carpet You can't erase what you've done I’ve been sitting out on the sidelines Patiently biding my time Thinking I’m far from good enough Reminding me that’s a lie I’m not begging you to stay It’s been years since you’ve felt this way I’m not begging you change It’s been years since you’ve dealt with the pain I’m not begging you to stay It’s been years since you’ve felt this way I’m not begging you change It’s been years since you’ve dealt with the pain I’m not begging you to stay I’m not begging you to stay I’ve been sitting out on the sidelines Patiently biding my time I’m not begging you to stay It’s been years since you’ve felt this way I’m not begging you change It’s been years since you’ve dealt with the pain I’m not begging you to stay It’s been years since you’ve felt this way I’m not begging you change It’s been years since you’ve dealt with the pain Begging you Begging you Begging you Begging you Begging you Begging you Begging you

about

"Why Am I Like This" was written as a coping mechanism to work through Genevieve's personal mental health journey. The title track is a specific story about social anxiety in where you wish you could promptly teleport literally *anywhere* from the situation that you are in - a pretty relatable feeling. The EP sifts through different memories and digs deep into the strange realities of one's messy mind. The genre jumps around from alternative, folk, indie-pop, to Canadiana, but maintains Jaide's lyrically driven, terrifically vulnerable singer-songwriter vibe.
